Fish Fry Friday has Returned!

Posted by:

Today is officially the first Friday of Lent, a very important time in our Catholic religion. A solemn time of repentance and reflection in preparation for the Easter celebration and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. With this very religious time of Lent comes a less spiritual time of the year, fish frys.

Fish frys on Fridays during Lent are a Midwest staple. We love them. Jude went crazy with celebration running around the house yelling "fish fry, fish fry" when I suggested to Steve he should get some for take out. Normally we would go out for fish fry but it is still brutally cold here in Ohio so we sent Steve out for a daddy job ;)

Where should you go for fish frys? Where there are so many places to choose from it's sometimes hard to pick. Most local Catholic Churches have one, local restaurants and other organizations also sponsor some great fish fry. Everyone seems to have their favorite. Not sure where to go? Check out your local newspapers, websites or ask your friends. Live here around Northeast Ohio, check out The Festival Chaser for some wonderful links to lists of local fish frys. The Festival Chaser it is a fabulous place to find fun activities in the Cleveland and the surrounding area. So if you live in the area or are planning to visit, definitely check it out!

Tonight Steve got take out from our local watering hole the Rusty Barrel. The yummy crunchy fish accompanied by fries, hush puppies and coleslaw was a winning combination. It satisfied the Novak crowd. Now with full bellies and smiling faces the kids are off with Steve to play WiiU and mommy is thanking God for the yummy meal and contemplating next Friday's fish fry adventure.
