So visiting the site and reading about this book got me thinking about my marriage. Believe it or not my husband Steve does exist even though there really are not pictures of him on the blog. He is usually the man behind the camera (he prefers it that way). And while he supports me and the blog and takes part in most of our fun and sometimes unexpectedly outrageous activities, he prefers to remain behind the scenes enjoying the moments rather than memorializing them for the world to share.
In this day and age where it seems like most weddings take longer to plan than they last, we have beaten the odds. We have been married thirteen years. The product of this marriage are two wonderful boys, a lovely warm home and memories to last a lifetime.
Now don't get me wrong, not all the memories I speak of are good. We have our ups and downs. Life is stressful juggling raising kids, working, daily chores etc. Then you add a "to death do us part" relationship into the mix and sometimes it spins out of control. A good marriage is hard work, don't let anyone tell you differently. But the love it brings into your life is worth all the effort into this world and why I still believe in marriage.
The world is a tough place. It is nice to go through life with someone who believes in you by your side. Sometimes with all the hustle and bustle life throws out at you this gets lost in the shuffle. Life takes over and the to do list over takes you. Instead of a united front it becomes divide and conquer. You need to step back and remember there is no "I" in "TEAM" and marriage is the hardest team sport that you may ever play. The victory however can be the sweetest!
(Fawn Weaver, the founder of the Happy Wives Club wrote a book about the best marriage secrets the world has to offer. They say the book is like “Eat, Pray, Love meets The 5 Love Languages.” I say the book is inspiring. You can grab a copy HERE).
